LOCATION

The Federico Santa María University is located in the city of Valparaíso, Region of Valparaíso, 120 km northwest of Santiago, on the Pacific coast. Valparaiso is recognized as a cultural heritage site due to its historic charm. Nearby is the city of Viña del Mar, known as the ‘Garden City’, one of Chile’s most popular beach resorts, offering excellent hotels, restaurants, and shopping areas.

How to get there from other regions:

The primary means of reaching Valparaíso and Viña del Mar from other regions of the country is by land transportation, specifically intercity buses. Both cities have well-connected bus terminals: the Valparaíso Bus Terminal and the Viña del Mar Bus Terminal, which receive frequent services from Santiago and other regional capitals.Additionally, if you want to travel by airplane, the region of Valparaiso is connected to Santiago’s International Airport by the Ruta 68 highway. There are several alternatives to get you from the airport to your Hotel in Valparaiso or Viña del Mar:

Shuttle Service (Airport to Viña del Mar or Valparaíso)

Public Transportation

The easiest way to get around Valparaíso by public transport is the Metro. The closest Metro station to the university is “Portales”.
The university is located on a hill, so there are quite a few stairs to climb. If you have trouble climbing stairs, we recommend using Uber (Los Placeres 466, 2390235 Valparaíso).

Centropuerto

Operating hours:
Airport – Pajaritos bus station: 06:00 AM – 10:30 PM (Mon-Sun), every 15 min service frequency.
Pajaritos bus station – Airport: 06:00 AM – 10:40 PM (Mon-Sun), every 15 min service frequency.
Fare: CLP $2.200 (cash, debit and credit cards).

TurBus Aeropuerto

Operating hours:
Airport – Pajaritos bus station – Airport: 05:30 AM – 10:45 PM (Mon – Sun), every 10-15 min service frequency.
Fare: CLP $2.200 (cash, debit and credit cards).

“Pajaritos bus station” is the first bus stop (a 15-20 minute drive), and it is where you will need to get off to make the connection for the next leg of the trip. You should enter the building and purchase an inter-provincial bus ticket to Viña del Mar or Valparaiso at one of the ticket counters located inside (we suggest TurBus or Pullman). The fare is approximately CLP 5000. When entering the bus, please note that your ticket has a seat number (Spanish: “Asiento”) assigned to it.

Didi has recently arrived in Chile, so if you already have the app, you can purchase your ticket there at a more convenient price.

The trip from Pajaritos to Viña del Mar/Valparaíso takes about 90 minutes. Once you arrive at your destination, you will find taxis parked right outside the Bus station. You may also book a ride with Uber or DiDi.

Airport Taxi

There is a 24 hour taxi service from the airport, called “Taxioficial”. The transfer cost to Viña de Mar/Valparaíso is CLP $129.000 and can carry up to 3 passengers with luggage.
*If You need assistance with booking the shuttle from/to airport, please contact HEPNP 2025 organizing committee and let us know the time of your arrival/departure.
