CHANCES LOW-Z

For local clusters (z < 0.07), CHANCES will push cluster galaxy evolution studies well into the dwarf galaxy regime (10– 10M) where the environment is expected to play a dominant role in their evolution.

CHANCES EVOLUTION

CHANCES will also track galaxies in and around clusters up to z=0.4, following the steady changes in cluster galaxy properties over time in an homogeneous way. The large area around the clusters will allow us to trace cosmic filaments and infalling groups and thus follow the continual accretion of galaxies and mass onto clusters from the cosmic web

CHANCES CGM

CHANCES will also probe the effect of clusters on the gaseous halos of member galaxies by obtaining spectra of QSOs behind z > 0.35 clusters to look for MgII absorption systems linked to the galaxies
